Time to book your spring and summer trips. Hopper predicts that airfare prices will climb into the spring and summer with a 5% increase this month, alone.
As we inch towards the warmer months, it looks like we are also inching closer to those peak summer prices. While airfare this year is still expected to be lower than last year’s peak prices, an average roundtrip domestic price will still cost about $350 this summer.
Why the higher prices?
The higher prices are due to the ever-pressing demand for trips, inflation, and lower airline capacity.
How to avoid the high prices
Avoid flying in May: May is expected to be one of the most expensive months with domestic flights costing around $348 roundtrip. After May prices will steadily, but slowly fall off.
Choose your location wisely: According to Hopper, Las Vegas is the most-booked US destination followed by Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Miami. As for international trips, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Cancun are the top destinations. So, if you’re booking a trip, those might be the places to avoid in the spring or summer or set up flight alerts for.
