Roses are fine.
Chocolates are too.
But a romantic hotel is the best you can do.
It’s Valentine’s Day soon, and while a nice dinner and a gift are a great (if unoriginal) choice, it’s high time you went above and beyond. A romantic evening, weekend, or even a week in a fantastic hotel makes for a Valentine’s to remember.
But not all hotels do romance as well as those below. From Parisian love nests to high-end luxury in the Windy City, these are some of the best romantic hotels out there.
The Price: $350+
The Feel: Elegant Alternative to NYC
The Rundown: If you feel like avoiding the swarms heading for New York, Chicago makes for a wonderful big-city alternative. City views, impeccable service, and fireplace-equipped suites forge a romantic atmosphere at this stunning luxury hotel in central Chicago. Many rooms come with their own balcony, perfect for a loved-up breakfast before heading out to sample the best the city has to offer.
Kehoe House, Savannah
The Price: Savannah $219+
The Feel: Cherry blossomed Southern Romance
The Rundown: Kehoe House was named the most romantic hotel in the US back in 2019, so we can’t not include this Southern Belle. The building itself is a historic piece of Savannah – already one of the country’s prettiest towns–but the attention to detail from the owners separates Kehoe from the rest.
Enchantment Resort, Sedona
The Price: $450+
The Feel: Desert Oasis…of loooveeee
The Rundown: Find a more spectacular location for a luxury resort than Enchantment. The soaring red cliffs of Sedona, Arizona, serve as the backdrop for this beautifully designed resort. The undeniable stars of the show are the pool suites’ outdoor areas tempting splash pools offering views of the Sedona countryside. You’ll barely want to leave the room with your loved one.
The Price: $280+
The Feel: Voulez vous coucher avec moi, c’est soir?
The Rundown: Paris is already one of the world’s most romantic cities. You can’t let the side down and pick a hotel that isn’t fully on board with that reputation.
Paris j’Adore was made for one thing – romance. It’s evident in each of the themed rooms, christened with names like “Passion” and “Boudoir” – some rooms even come with a swing…we’ll let you put two and two together on that one.
Aside from the more passionate pursuits the hotel wants to enjoy, it’s also a five-star hotel, so service is exemplary, and the rooftop balconies are about as quintessential Paris as you can ask for.
Mi Amor Hotel and Spa, Tulum
The Price: $275+
The Feel: Couple focussed Mexican Paradise
The Rundown: The Mexican Caribbean is convenient. It’s a relatively short flight from much of the US to vibrant Caribbean waters and all the trappings of a vacation-built town. But so many hotels are packed with families or party-hard college kids, sucking the romance out of paradise.
Mi Amor fixes that. Removing the downsides of places like Tulum and Cancun, the Adults-only resort is designed for couples to escape. Even the mesmerizing beachfront sun beds are dotted sporadically around the rocks to allow some privacy from other guests. Lounge in the pool, cocktail in hand, and retreat to the stunning guestrooms and spa treatment center.
The Price: $547+
The Feel: All-inclusive, all-encompassing, all-luxury
The Rundown: On the other side of Mexico, Dreams is removing all effort whatsoever at its all-inclusive resort in Cabo. Generous guestrooms, world-class dining options, ocean views, and couples experiences fuse to make for an unforgettable escape to Pacific Coast. Again, for those on the West coast, a destination this tropical feels like it should be much further away. It’s not. Book the hotel, jump on a flight, and relax.
Santorini Secret Suites and Spa, Santorini
The Price: $450+
The Feel: High-end Cycladic splendor
The Rundown: Santorini oozes romance. Formed over centuries in the middle of a collapsed volcano, few places are as dramatic as its sun-soaked cliffs. Secret Suites and Spa makes full use of its surroundings. Its elegant white-wash Cycladic rooms are dug into the cliff, spilling out onto private pool terraces, poised for enjoying one of the best sunsets on the planet.
The Price: $229+
The Feel: Nature-focussed nurturing
The Rundown: Sometimes, just sitting in nature is enough to decompress. That’s the belief The Landing Resort and Spa operates on, gifting guests with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe from their private balcony or porch. They know how beautiful the view is, so they’ll bring breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the balcony for you.
If you eventually muster the strength to leave your room, wander on to the heated pools, hot tubs, fire pits, and world-class spa to complete the process of total relaxation.
Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville
The Price:$284
The Feel: Historic Blue Ridge Luxury
The Rundown: North Carolina’s finest hotel is a favorite of Barack Obama. Not that thinking of the former President is romantic, but it says something about the quality of the place. The incredible slate-covered building stares out over Asheville, one of the country’s most exciting small cities, draping itself over the ridge on different levels. Its atmospheric subterranean spa is a highlight, as is the gigantic fireplace in the lobby and the guestroom’s specially designed oak furnishings.
Enjoying a sunset dinner from one of the hotel’s four restaurants is so romantic, it may cause you to reach for a ring, even if you don’t have one.
