The days of having to remove your ski gloves and search through numerous zippers on your jacket to locate your Epic Pass are almost at an end. Nobody is happier than me, as I somehow always manage to lose it in the parking lot or slip on it like a banana peel.

The Epic Pass is scheduled to go digital next year, with tickets for the 2023/2024 season having gone on sale earlier this week.

Vail Resorts, the owner of the Epic Pass, is improving its mobile application, enabling skiers and snowboarders to activate and store their lift passes on their smartphones. This means visitors can keep their phones in their pockets, and their passes will be scanned without the need for manual scanning using Bluetooth. Bless the inventor of this life-saving technology!

The new mobile passes can replace the need for plastic cards or RFID chips, but both physical options will still be provided and automatically delivered to all new Epic Pass holders for the next season.

On top of the mobile pass, the new My Epic app will also feature interactive trail maps with GPS location tracking, real-time and predicted lift line wait times, and tailored information for skiers.

Where can I use the mobile Epic Pass?

The mobile pass can be used at all Vail Resorts mountains located in the United States, with plans to include Whistler Blackcomb in upcoming seasons. The pass provides unrestricted and limitless entry to 42 different mountain resorts and restricted admission to over 80 resorts all across the globe, perfect for avid travelers and ski enthusiasts.

Passes for the 2023/2024 season are currently on sale, starting at $909. Those who purchase early will also receive 10 buddy tickets and six ski-with-a-friend tickets at a discount. Epic Local Passes start at $676, and Epic Day Passes start at $41.
