If you’re looking for a new travel credit card, consider signing up for an Amex. American Express is opening an exclusive and swanky new lounge in New York that will be open to all Amex cardholders.
The new lounge is nestled in the heart of Manhattan and on the 55th floor of one of New York’s tallest skyscrapers. Though the lounge is called “Centurion New York,” having a Centurion Amex card isn’t required. The lounge and most of its amenities will be open to all Amex cardholders with a reservation. Some amenities are exclusively reserved for Centurion cardholders. This is welcome news seeing as Amex introduced new guest fees at their Centurion lounges late last year.
What’s inside the lounge?
Comprehensive dining and drink menus curated by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud but still no word if the food is complimentary.
Specially trained concierges will be available for any personal requests, from dining reservations to travel plans.
The layout and design of the lounge are being kept a secret, but the space was designed by the famed Yabu Pushelberg studio and will have a rotating selection of artwork.
Diptyque created a custom scent for the lounge.
Exclusive events for Centurion cardholders with programs focused on subjects like art, lifestyle, and wine. Centurion cardholders can also reserve the lounge’s private dining space.
If you’re keen to experience the Michelin-level menu or the view from the 4th largest skyscraper in NYC, this is your excuse to open up an Amex. Our writer Steven has already taken the liberty of breaking down the pros and cons of the Gold and Platinum cards.
The lounge will open in March 2023 with reservations opening up in late February. You’ll need the Amex to get into the lounge but you can make your reservation without one. So, make your reservation while you wait on your card in the mail.
