The holiday season is upon us and according to Hyatt’s recent global survey, people are in the holiday and travel spirit. Here’s what Hyatt found is trending for the holiday season:
56% of those surveyed said that it doesn’t feel like the festive season without snow and 35% of people would travel to another country to see snow.
Even though that’s the case, the top three popular wintertime activities include visiting a holiday market, attending a New Year’s party, and going to the beach to escape the winter weather.
People are choosing hotels and resorts over home rentals for the holiday season. Nearly two-thirds of people prefer hotels and resorts for their on-site amenities and convenience.
Give the gift of an experience. 61% of people surveyed said they would rather receive a travel-related gift or experience than a traditional gift.
Global getaways and crossing off bucket list destinations are all the rage during the holiday season. For a dream winter getaway, 31% of Americans rated Canada as their top destination, while Greece and Ireland garnered 27% each. Other top destinations include Japan and Italy.
