Ecuador is the latest country to join the digital nomad wave.
The South American gem is launching a ‘Rentista’ visa for remote workers. The new visa will allow digital nomads to stay in the lush mountainous country for up to two years, giving you plenty of time to adjust to the altitude.
How to qualify:
Have a passport with at least six months of validity
A clean police record
Show proof of income that is three times Ecuador’s basic salary (about $1,266 per month)
Provide proof of insurance that is valid in Ecuador
Pay a processing fee of about $460
Applications are already open but the process can take between two and four months to complete. It should also be noted that the application is open to most countries but there is a list of countries whose citizens are not eligible to apply.
From jungles to mountain summits, this is the perfect remote work location for any of you who have a particular penchant for the outdoors.
