Here at Dollar Flight Club, we are always looking to have life-changing adventures for pennies on the dollar. Travel can be quite expensive but we believe that everyone should be able to experience the joy of travel so here are a few lesser-known and cheaper destinations to consider, courtesy of Time Out.
Skip Croatia. Hop over to Dhërmi, Albania.
Game of Thrones and the beautiful Adriatic Sea quickly catapulted Croatia into a top European destination over the last few years. Long gone are the days of it being a lesser-known country tucked away in the Balkans and the influx of tourists has pushed up prices significantly.
For a similar vibe and an equal amount of beach and music festivals, try visiting Dhërmi, Albania. The coastal town is becoming a festival hotspot with all the allure of a coastal beach vacation. Plus, a beer in Albania is 77% cheaper than in Croatia.
Swap out Berlin for Dresden
Berlin has long been a draw for travelers, artists, and ex-pats, the forward-thinking capital city has become a hotbed for overtourism and sky-high rent prices. Dresden offers just as much art and history and has some of Europe’s oldest museums and beautiful Baroque architecture.
It has all the culture of Berlin but is a bit easier on the eyes. It also has magical natural wonders like the seemingly endless gardens and the almost unbelievable Saxon Switzerland Mountains. Monthly travel passes are also 26% cheaper in Dresden than in Berlin and that’s a win in our book.
Take a chance and visit one of these lesser-known picks. You’ll save money, help combat overtourism at bigger destinations, and likely have a more unique experience.
