The Metaverse doesn’t seem to let up and wants its foot in every door including those of cruise ships. Celebrity Cruises will be the first cruise line in the industry to offer a ship tour in the metaverse, or ‘Wonderverse’ as they call it, and available now just in time for post-holiday travel planning.
Celebrity Cruises is now offering potential customers a virtual tour of its experience before they book, allowing them to walk as customizable avatars aboard a virtual replica of its newest ship, Celebrity Beyond. Those who visit the digital ship at the same time can interact with one another, and there is a dedicated meeting area within the platform.
The Wonderverse allows consumers to explore the ship and the many cruise destinations from one space to the next as they explore immersive and interactive content.
What to explore on Cruise in the Wonderverse:
The Magic Carpet, the world’s most innovative cruise ship design, offering views of the sea while guests enjoy virtual cocktails. It also serves as a meeting space for users to interact virtually.
The Grand Plaza, Celebrity Beyond’s social hub, covers three decks and offers passengers the chance to interact, listen to music, watch Celebrity’s iconic Martini Bar Flair Show, and chat with Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Celebrity’s CEO and president.
- The Resort Deck is the ship’s main pool where guests can relax in lounge chairs, take a dip in the pool, and order a drink from the bar.
Visitors can also visit destinations like Alaska, Greece, Tokyo, and Saint Lucia. When guests feel sold on boarding the cruise in person for a real vacation, they’ll be able to book through a portal as part of the experience.
