Paris is one of those cities that makes you slow down despite its speed. Quality is not an afterthought here. The city invites you to enjoy the time and attention to detail that has created its most luxurious and dynamic attributes. The hotels are one of my favorite parts. Everything feels decadent — even if it’s budget-friendly.

Whether you want a space steeped in history, or something modern and sophisticated, Paris has it all. While it’s hard to narrow down the best hotels in Paris, we’ve put together our top picks for 2023, with a mix of new and iconic options alike.

Hotel Napoleon

Location: Avenue de Friedland in the 8th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $360
Vibe: Traditional, opulent, grand
The rundown: Take a step back in time in luxurious style at Hotel Napoleon. Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, near the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées, the hotel was built in the early 1900s and was originally intended to be an apartment building. The building was later converted into a hotel and has been welcoming guests since 1908. It has classic French decor featuring rich fabrics, chandeliers, and antique furnishings, creating a feeling of opulence and grandeur.

Maison Mère

Location: Montmartre in the 9th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $150
Vibe: Boutique, eclectic, cozy
The rundown: Translating to “simple house,” this boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Montmartre district — an area known for its artistic and bohemian history. Meant to give visitors a home away from home feeling, guests will love the cozy-chic digs of the 51 rooms. Vintage decor and thoughtfully-picked books invite you to curl up with a good read and when it’s time to dine, head downstairs to the gorgeous restaurant, where a lively Parisian experience awaits.

Four Seasons Hotel George V

Location: Golden Triangle in the 8th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $1,400
Vibe: Exclusive, high-end, luxurious
The rundown: Whether you have some points to burn, or a special occasion calls for a luxe stay, the Four Seasons in Paris will not disappoint. Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, and housed in a beautiful Art Deco building that dates back to the 1920s, the Four Seasons will make you feel like royalty with its ornate moldings, high ceilings, and intricate architectural details, such as marble floors and grand staircases. Be sure to check out the hotel’s restaurant, Le Cinq, which has three Michelin stars!

Hotel de Londres Eiffel

Location: Rue Augereau in the 7th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $170
Vibe: Classic, elegant, modern
The rundown: Hotel de Londres Eiffel’s main draw is its prime location to the Eiffel Tower, along with being housed in the same building as the famous Brasserie Thoumieux. Basically, if you want all the action, stay here. The hotel’s traditional French decor mixed with modern amenities make it a favorite among those looking for something that doesn’t cut corners despite being budget-friendly.

Hôtel Madame Rêve

Location: Rue de Louvre in the 1st arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $500
Vibe: Unique, stylish, hidden-gem
The rundown: Hidden in plain sight, this might be one of the City of Light’s best-kept secrets in terms of hotel stays. The relatively new Hôtel Madame Rêve is tucked within the Louvre Post Office, with an unassuming frontage that makes it easy to miss. The hotel features 82 suites, along with an interior that pays homage to the funk of the ‘70s. Be sure to head to the 10,000-square-foot rooftop to take in some of the best views Paris has to offer.

Hôtel de Crillon

Location: Place de la Concorde in the 8th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $1,600
Vibe: Historic, luxurious, iconic
The rundown: One step through the doors of Hôtel de Crillon and you’ll understand what all the hype is about. The building was originally constructed as a palace for the Count of Crillon and was later converted into a luxury hotel. The rich history of the establishment makes it a must-visit. It’s played host to many famous guests over the years, including royalty, politicians, and celebrities. The hotel has also been the site of many significant events, such as the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I.

Hotel Rochechoart

Location: Montmartre in the 9th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $180
Vibe: Boutique, unique, cozy
The rundown: This 1929 Art Deco jewel flies under the radar, but deserves recognition. Hotel Rochechouart has all the contemporary touches to make your stay comfortable, but layers of eclecticism, too, like a period glass elevator, mosaic flooring, brass fixtures, and plenty of vintage decor. Nearby attractions make the hotel notable, too. It’s walking distance from Sacré-Coeur, Moulin Rouge, and the hip neighborhood of Pigalle. Be sure to grab a drink at the hotel’s rooftop bar and take in panoramic views of Paris.

The Peninsula Paris

Location: Avenue Kléber in the 16th arrondissement
Price: Nightly rates start around $1,600
Vibe: Sophisticated, timeless, exquisite
The rundown: Even just grabbing lunch at the iconic Peninsula Paris will level up your French glamor game. The hotel, situated in one of the most prestigious and central areas of Paris, near the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées, is housed in a historic building that dates back to the 19th century and has been restored and renovated to include state-of-the-art amenities and services. This makes it a popular choice for those looking for luxe lodging and a prime location. Expect immense opulence, from the marble floors to the luxurious fabrics and furnishings.
