The Future of Wine Can Be Found at Napa’s Reopened Robert Mondavi Winery

Robert Mondavi winery has long been a staple in the Napa community, known for its world-class wines and its charming arch entryway and accompanying tower. Now, after a three-year renovation, the winery has reopened, just in time for its 60th anniversary.

Picture this. You’re staring out onto endless rows of grapes in one of the world’s most famous vineyards, a glass of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc in hand, while a chef hand-picks fresh herbs from the adjacent garden. In a moment, those freshly harvested ingredients are served at a long wooden table among friends. Glasses clink in joyful cheers, and more wine is poured in celebration.

It may sound like something only possible in the movies, but I assure you, it’s very easy to make a reality. This is exactly how you can enjoy a Napa vacation at the newly renovated Robert Mondavi Winery. Read on to learn more about changes at the winery and access our exclusive discounts.

Robert Mondavi winery has long been a staple in the Napa community, known for its world-class wines and its charming arch entryway and accompanying tower. Now, after a three-year renovation, the winery has reopened, just in time for its 60th anniversary. With nods to both its legacy and modern vision, it’s clear why Robert Mondavi was a pioneer in the Napa area.

Back in 1966, Robert Mondavi opened the first major winery in the region since prohibition, and from then on, the name has become synonymous with Napa, luxury wine, and innovation. Robert Mondavi was one of the first to see that Napa wine could compete on the world stage, cementing the name Robert Mondavi as a Napa Valley staple and making Napa a global name.

Given that Robert Mondavi Winery is one of Napa’s most storied wineries, it makes sense that the renovation is a telltale sign of what Napa will look like in the future. The updates reimagine and push the ways in which wine can be enjoyed and appreciated. Of course, the signature archway and tower are still there to welcome guests as they drive up, but the renovations were designed with wine enthusiasts in mind and sustainability at the forefront. Warm wooden design, calming water elements, and wide open spaces that welcome that soft vineyard light are all part of the lavish update.

In addition to the renovations, the winery has also released a special 60th Anniversary Commemorative Cabernet Sauvignon. The one-time bottling was made possible with grapes from two of the most celebrated vineyards in Napa Valley, and has a deep flavor marked by cherry, blackberry, and dark chocolate. It’s everything people love about Napa in one bottle.

What's new at Robert Mondavi Winery?

One never really needs an excuse to go to Napa, but I would go out of my way to plan a trip to the renewed Robert Mondavi Winery. It’s the perfect experience for first-time visitors who want all the Napa history with a modern edge and a fun revisit for those who have been before but have yet to experience the new experiential offerings.

As you can see from the picture above, there is not a bad seat in the house. At first glance, it looks like the winery even filters in its own perfect lighting. But it’s all very real and just a plane ride away.

The modern exteriors and outdoor waterway seamlessly blend into the cozy interior, complete with a wood-paneled ceiling, inviting (and plentiful) seating areas, and stunning vistas. Of course, we all know Napa is gorgeous, but these renovations really put the heart of the valley on full display. If it wasn’t for the rolling Mayacamas Mountains in the back and other visitors, you might forget that it’s not your own private villa in Tuscany.

There is a reason Robert Mondavi Winery has endured. He saw a future for wine and continues to offer new perspectives in the Napa space and beyond. The new space is grounded in tradition but has been transformed to provide a closer connection to the land. Each pathway forged, each herb planted, and each terrace implemented was designed to highlight the natural forces that help fortify the Valley.

In particular, the new To Kalon Cellar is a technological marvel. It includes optical sorting, gravity-flow systems, and advanced temperature control, which in turn allows for more precise vinification. That’s a lot of fancy words to say that your wine will taste better than ever before. This farm-to-bottle craftsmanship is the basis of the Robert Mondavi winemaking approach.

Robert Mondavi barrels

One of the coolest new features is the hospitality center. Decorative features, like reused old massive barrels, and photos of the original family are all nods to Robert Mondavi Winery’s past, but the new wing includes an expanded indoor/outdoor tasting area and exclusive wine and food pairing experiences, like the Mondavi Table culinary experience.

The Mondavi Table is a truly exceptional experience that features three courses paired with wine for only $95. It’s an intimate, family-style experience featuring seasonally-inspired dishes. Each course perfectly highlights the differences between each wine pairing, using wine made by the vineyard and produce from the onsite gardens. It doesn’t really get better than that.

The winery actually offers an impressive amount of tastings and tours. If you’re interested in the art of making wine, for only $60 you can participate in the Pioneer Tasting, where you’ll get more in-depth info about what goes into making each glass, all the while seated in the gorgeous Vineyard Room (as seen here below).

Priced at $150 per person (minus our 15% discount you can find if you keep reading below).
