The inner child in us is screaming and jumping for joy because the first Nintendo theme park is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and opening its doors on February 17, 2023.
With a Super Nintendo World in Japan, this theme park in Hollywood will be the second, featuring just one ride, the augmented reality-enhanced Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Based on the popular, Mario Kart video game series, the ride combines high-tech augmented reality (AR) with projection mapping and actual set pieces on a rolling track, built to be a thrill ride with interactive features and “a variety of outcomes.”
Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans for other rides, but the Donkey Kong expansion is expected for Super Nintendo World in Osaka, Japan. Universal Studios Orlando will open its own Super Nintendo World in 2025 as part of the Epic Universe park, inviting guests to experience the game in real life.
As a Super Princess Peach stan, I may or may not show up to the park in full regalia.
