Stratospheric balloon flights now offer a stylish way for you to fulfill your dream of orbiting away from Earth, if you’ve ever had such a threat in mind. This rings true for me multiple times a day when I look at redundant emails.
By 2025, Zephalto, a French space balloon company, plans to launch 60 stratospheric balloon flights annually, each carrying six passengers, at a very humble starting price of $132,000 per person for a six-hour flight.
What does the experience look like?
Zephalto’s stratospheric balloon flights will kick off with a 90-minute ascent at 13 feet per second. Passengers will spend three hours in the stratosphere, which is 15.5 miles above sea level, indulging in incredible views, and savoring a feast of delectable food and wines before a slow return to Earth.
If you’re wondering, NASA considers space to begin at no less than 50 miles above Earth’s sea level. However, some argue that it doesn’t truly start until the Kármán line, which is at an altitude of 62 miles. All flights are set to depart from France by 2025, so start pinching those pennies now, and prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
