Turns out, trying to plan a DIY vacation is like following a recipe for financial disaster! According to new research by Which?, all-inclusive trips are proving to be more budget-friendly than DIY trips in popular destinations.
The research studied the prices of vacations for a family of four in August across 10 popular European and long-haul destinations. The findings revealed that all-inclusive trips were more affordable in seven out of those 10 destinations.
Here’s a breakdown of the findings:
- All-inclusive trips were cheaper in seven out of ten popular European and long-haul destinations, including Mallorca, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Thailand, Mexico, Mauritius, and Barbados, for a family of four.
- The biggest price difference was seen in Mallorca, where the cheapest all-inclusive trip was $345 less per person compared to a DIY one, resulting in a total savings of $1,374 for the whole family.
- Tui and Jet2Holidays emerged as the most affordable travel tour options in most cases.
- Interestingly, for destinations like Phuket in Thailand and Mauritius, DIY trips were actually cheaper than all-inclusive packages.
- The research also highlighted that Costa de Barcelona (the Northern coast of Barcelona) is the most economical destination for a short-haul all-inclusive trip in August.
It seems that when it comes to finding the sweet spot between saving money and keeping it stress-free, all-inclusive trips have the upper hand in many popular destinations. It would be smart to reconsider your vacation planning strategy for the next getaway!
