I wish they’d thought of a better name, but Thirst Trips are on the rise.
But what is a thirst trip? Thankfully, it’s exactly what you’re not thinking it is. Get your mind out of the gutter.
Hotels.com, who seemingly coined the term, says a Thirst Trip is a short getaway to quench the urge to get away during the one hundred days between Presidents Day and Memorial Day. The gap represents the longest period in the work year with no public holiday.
According to the travel aggregator, searches for short getaways with poolside access have shot up 35%, with similar peaks on Google, too. To help with planning your own Thirst Trip, Hotels.com also provided a list of hotels for each weekend in the barren period that all come in at less than $250 and all have a pool.
Here are some of the suggestions:
March 3 – 5 (currently the cheapest weekend for booking): The Palazzo at The Venetian, Las Vegas
May 5 – 7: Laguna Beach House, Los Angeles
April 7 – 9: Universals Aventure Hotels
April 28 – 30 JW Marriott Charlotte, Charlotte
Of course, you can always use some of our recent recommendations, like these.
