While there’s something exciting about planning last-minute trips, if you have your 2024 adventures lined up, why not plan your lodging now? If you’re headed to Mardi Gras 2024, we suggest booking your Mardi Gras hotel now.

The festival has been growing in popularity year after year, with millions of visitors descending upon New Orleans and some other Fat Tuesday fortresses for a day or two of revelry. The celebrations technically kick off right after Christmas, with January 6 marking the first event, but the climactic moments will be on the weekend of February 16.

To help with your planning, we’ve found a selection of the best Mardi Gras 2024 hotels. We’ve centered mainly in New Orleans, but through in a slightly calmer option if you’re not up for the party.

These are the best Mardi Gras hotels for 2024.

Budget Mardi Gras hotel options

Hotel Provincial

Location: New Orleans, LA
Price: $116+
Vibe: Classic French Quarter on a budget
The rundown: The fact that you can find a Mardi Gras hotel this beautiful for $116 a night over the Mardi Gras period is remarkable in itself. But one night in Hotel Provincial will convince you it’s a minor miracle. From its classic French Quarter courtyard to the classy but comfortable rooms, it’s a winner in every respect.

Its location means you’re never far from the action, but with a quiet retreat when the commotions of the day are done. It’s family-run and has been for three generations, gifting it that homey atmosphere many larger chains can never achieve.

Hotel Villa Convento

Location: New Orleans, LA
Price: $144+
Vibe: The House of the Rising Sun
The rundown: This is a cool one. Not only is Hotel Villa Convento one of the best hotels to stay at for Mardi Gras 2024, it’s one of the coolest places to stay, period. Why? Because it just might be the famous House of the Rising Sun.

Whether it’s true is another matter (there are different theories as to the song’s origins), but there’s no denying the history of the building. It’s a traditional Creole townhouse built in the 1830s, immersing you in the city’s rich culture. And, of course, it’s in striking distance of the party.

Mid-range Mardi Gras hotel options

The Roosevelt

Location: New Orleans, LA
Price: $300+
Vibe: Old World opulence
The rundown: Stepping into The Roosevelt’s lobby is like stepping back in time. Originally opened in 1893, the modern-day iteration leans heavily into the storied past. But while its glamorous turn-of-the-20th-century aura might steal the headlines, its modern experience will cement its place in your heart.

It’s only one block from Bourbon Street, placing you steps (or stumbles, depending on how the day goes) from the action. It’s undoubtedly one of the best hotels to stay at for Mardi Gras 2024—or any other time of the year, frankly. Just make sure to book fast. Rooms at this Mardi Gras hotel are selling out for the festival.

Four Seasons, St. Louis

Location: St. Louis, MO
Price: $380+
Vibe: No NOLA, no problem
The rundown: If you can’t get down to the biggest Mardi Gras festival, swing north a little and check out St. Louis’s celebration. Not only are the prices a little more forgiving, but you’ll also have the chance to see the world’s largest costumed pet parade (surely it’s the only one?), Cajun cookoffs, carnivals, and a parade finishing at Anheuser-Busch brewery.

For your stay, go big at the Four Seasons. It boasts fantastic views of the city’s famous arch and packs in the typical level of luxury expected from the world-renowned brand. Just go easy on the casino downstairs; you’ll need the cash for the festival.

Bougie Mardi Gras hotel options

Maison de la Luz

Location: New Orleans, LA
Price: $480+
Vibe: Five-star southern charm
The rundown: Maison de la Luz is one of the newest luxury hotels on the NOLA scene. The stunning boutique property is another immaculate design project headed up by the lauded Studio Shamshiri. Elegance, serenity, and peace are the words that spring to mind when considering the end product.

Nightly wine and cheese, an honor bar, and morning coffee service are just a few of the wonderful quirks, making it one of the best hotels to stay at for Mardi Gras 2024. You’re still in the thick of things, but frankly, you might not want to leave for the chaos outside.

Ritz-Carlton

Photo: Tripadvisor

Location: New Orleans, LA
Price: $400+
Vibe: World-renowned luxury
The rundown: Housed in a beautifully restored department store building, the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is arguably the city’s finest hotel. As can be expected with the brand, the luxurious service and experience are on show in every aspect—just with a few NOLA-centered deviations.

The weekends are a hive of life, with local jazz musicians taking center stage in the fabulous Davenport Lounge. In contrast, the on-site restaurants specializing in local fare are a highlight for almost any New Orleans trip. As Mardi Gras hotels go, you can do far worse than a stay at the Ritz.
