Right on the heels of their new brand Tempo going live in NYC, Hilton has announced a new deal to design the accommodation spaces on a private space station.

Starlab, one of four private ventures currently being developed for space tourism, commissioned the hotel giant to bring a fresh perspective to the designs for its hospitality suites as well as the sleeping spaces that will be used by the paying astronauts. They’ll also be collaborating on the marketing for the experience.

It’s not the first time Hilton has been involved in space exploration. Back in 2002, astronauts on the International Space Station made a batch of famous DoubleTree chocolate cookies as part of an experiment into baking in space. No comment as to whether paying astronauts will get one at check-in.

It appears we’re getting alarmingly close to the dawn of commercial space travel, with Starlab expected to be in low-flying orbit by as early as 2027. The company hopes to have three different stations, all built for slightly different purposes.
