Indonesia has officially launched its “second home visa” program to attract wealthy global citizens to stay and work in the country, including in Bali, for five to ten years in hopes that those who come can positively contribute to the Indonesian economy.
To qualify, applicants must bring at least 2 billion rupiahs (roughly $130,000) with them, and those funds must be deposited in Indonesian state-owned banks. The application fee is 3 million rupiahs ($192.37) and is payable online outside of Indonesia.
Interested tourists may apply online and must upload the required documents, including a national passport valid for a minimum of 36 months, proof of funds by the account holder or guarantor, a headshot photo, and a curriculum vitae.
The new policy takes effect on Dec 25, or 60 days following its launch.
Indonesia now joins the list of other countries offering long-term stays for digital nomads, retirees, and professionals, including Malaysia and Portgual.
