While addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, President Biden condemned Putin for mobilizing 300,000 more reservists and making nuclear threats.
In his speech, Biden called Putin’s threats reckless and said “Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenants of the United Nations Charter.” He called on the allied nations to lend more support to protect Ukrainians from Russian aggression.
In addition to calling into action the reservists, Putin accused the West of engaging in nuclear blackmail and wanting to destroy Russia. “Those who try to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the prevailing winds can turn in their direction,” he said in a speech.
Biden called the conflict “a war chosen by one man” and it seems that Russians are keen to escape Putin’s efforts as well. When Putin announced that he was calling on a partial military mobilization, plane tickets out of Russia began selling out as Russians scramble to escape the war Putin is waging on Ukraine.
