The prediction for 2023 travel trends is “in” according to Pinterest – finding that Gen Z and Millennials might just be the generations that’ll bring back train travel.
WTF is train travel aesthetic?
The creative platform predicted train travel’s big comeback in its annual ‘Pinterest Predicts’ report, which highlights the trends predicted to emerge in the next year. Pinterest explained, “Thanks to quicker boarding, extra legroom, scenic views, and a lower carbon footprint, Gen Z and Millennials will find a renewed love for this timeless mode of transportation. Searches for Europe interrailing, train quotes, and train travel aesthetic are all trending way up.”
Gen Z and Millennials seem to be adamant about reducing their carbon footprint in the wake of the pandemic after seeing signs of our Earth healing and choosing trains as a safer mode of transportation leading to a new term: ‘train bragging.’
Yeah, that tracks…
Pinterest’s prediction definitely seems to be in line with recent travel news, as we’ve seen a persistent trend of flight-free travel that encourages people to choose trains over planes. Countries like France are even banning short-haul domestic flights where train routes are available, while Switzerland recently announced a new high-tech train that can actually jump tracks and grow taller.
I’m 100% on board (no pun intended) for extra legroom and better views, all without having to stand in insanely long security and customs lines.
