Whip out the fedora hat and Cuban cigar because Delta Air Lines just announced its return of service to Havana next year after three years, and travelers are lining up to call seat dibs.
Delta will resume operating two daily nonstop flights from Miami International Airport to Havana’s José Mart International Airport starting April 10, 2023. Following a 55-year hiatus, Delta returned to the Cuban market in 2016, but suspended service in March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The airline says its Cuba network will be fully restored by next summer based on strong demand for flights to the island. The move also comes after the Biden administration announced earlier this year that it would ease travel between Cuba and the US again after the Trump administration severely restricted travel.
Taking off from Miami, Delta’s new nonstop flights to Cuba will operate on Airbus A320 aircraft with first-class, Delta Comfort+, and economy seating options. In-flight entertainment, free mobile messaging, high-speed Internet, and exclusive partner-curated content from Peloton and Spotify will be available for passengers.
