After three years of investigating fraud allegations, Attorney General Letitia James of New York filed a $250 million civil lawsuit against Trump and his family, and business empire.

James announced to reporters in New York, “The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us. He did this with the help of the other defendants.”

The other defendants are his children – Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric; as well as former Trump organization executives. In her investigation of 65 interviewed eyewitnesses and review of millions of documents, she revealed all parties involved in these crimes made upwards of 200 false and misleading asset valuations in financial statements from 2011 to 2021.

Trump’s other alleged deceptive strategies included falsifying business records, inflating property prices, and insurance fraud.

The $250 million lawsuit looks to recover lost revenue and penalties. It also includes a judge’s order that would permanently prohibit Trump and his family from holding office with businesses in New York.

James boldly concluded, “Claiming you have money that you do not have does not amount to the art of the deal. It’s the art of the steal… No one is above the law.”
