The iconic Havasu Falls finally reopen after three years.

Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon has long been a dream destination for travelers. Beyonce even filmed a music video there, so it has truly cemented its status as an iconic travel pick.

The falls, however, have been closed for three years to protect the health of the tribes on the land during the pandemic. The closure was then extended due to devastating flooding in October of last year.

Now, the Havasupai Tribe has announced that the falls will reopen on February 1 and honor existing permits. While no new permits are being released for 2023, you could still try your luck and attempt to get your hands on one by purchasing a permit from the tribe’s official transfer list. Reservations are posted daily at 8 a.m. and openings are updated based on cancellations and availability.

Keep in mind that day hikes are not permitted in Havasu Falls. A reservation for four days and three nights is required. Campground reservations are $395 per person while a lodge costs $1,980 per room. Additionally, hiking to the falls costs $100 per person on Mondays through Thursdays and $125 per person Fridays through Sundays.

Even with all the costs and the hassle of getting a permit, it’s still one of the most coveted bucket-list trips for travelers and I can see why. I don’t know about you but I’ll be watching that transfer permit page like a hawk.
