Travel blogger Sebastian Powell has been asked to leave Bali after writing a blog post falsifying the airport wait times he faced.
The blogger posted an article titled “Bali Airport Has Become A Nightmare With Up To Five Hours Immigration Lineups” where he claimed that wait times at Bali’s immigration hall were driving travelers to a breaking point.
The island getaway, which relies heavily on tourism, quickly had immigration authorities jump into action to investigate the claims. Their CCTV footage showed that Powell’s wait time was 53-minutes from entering the airport to arriving in the luggage hall.
Bali Airport authorities did not deny that lines were longer than usual but that peak wait times only reached up to two hours.
They have since given Powell a warning to leave Indonesian territory within 30 days.
