Even though spring has only just begun, it might be time to start thinking about booking your summer vacation. Luckily, Google Flights has revealed what’s trending for summer travel this year. Here’s what they found:
- The top destination people are searching for from June to August 2023 is London. The Big Smoke is followed by Cancun, Paris, Orlando, Rome, and NYC.
- In terms of international destinations, Barcelona and Dublin also made the top 20 list. Japan’s reopening has also sparked a lot of searches by users.
- Solo travel is also on the rise, not only for flights but also for solo cruises. Solo travel for women was especially popular. The most searched-for solo travel destinations include Japan, New Orleans, Iceland, Mexico City, and Italy.
- Couple’s trips are also picking up with romantic beach getaways like Jamaica, Bora Bora, Turks and Caicos, the Maldives, and Myrtle Beach all trending.
Our advice? Sign up for Dollar Flight Club and set your destinations to the places you want to see most. Then, keep your fingers crossed and your eyes on your inbox to hopefully score a hot summer deal. If you want to avoid the crowds or avoid the eyebrow-raising travel prices we’ve been seeing, we also recommend considering destinations off the beaten path.
Google also found there has been an all-time high in searches regarding passports. It’s no wonder given that the demand has caused a significant delay in renewals. If you’re thinking about taking an international trip, submit your passport renewal ASAP otherwise you’ll be spending your summer sweating at home and hoping a breeze will pass by your window so you can pretend you’re on the beach.
