Love may be blind, but a stay at the Parisian Opera House is a sight for sore eyes.
This summer, Airbnb is offering a one-night stay for two in the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris, AKA the inspiration behind the widely known musical, The Phantom of the Opera. Airbnb is converting a box in the theatre into a luxurious bedroom overlooking the famous auditorium.
The idea behind the themed stay is to inspire guests “to travel and dream at the same time — and raise a lot of emotions around travel,” says Emmanuel Marill, the Airbnb director of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
What does the stay include?
A tour of hidden areas in the Palais, including private archives and the famous underground lake.
A private ballet lesson with one of the Opera de Paris Ballet dancers.
A romantic recital performed by the artists of the Paris Opera Academy, with champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Dinner in the Foyer de la Danse, a historic rehearsal room used by dancers for warming up before performances.
A tour of the private dance studios underneath the eaves of the iconic opera building offering panoramic views of Paris.
How can I book?
Guests may request to book the overnight stay on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 6 pm CET. The stay will take place on Sunday, July 16, 2023, and cost around 37 euros, a nod to the Box of Honour’s number. All registered applicants on the company’s rental platform will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
Airbnb will also fund the renovation of the theater’s 19th-century boxes and update the Opera de Paris’ online streaming platform as part of the project.
If a sleepover at the Opera house isn’t your vibe, but you’d still like to enjoy a show, tickets to The Phantom of the Opera are available for booking and will show in 15 countries, across four continents, and in seven languages this year.
