Norwegian becomes the first cruise line to drop vaccine requirement

While air travel has been without most covid restrictions for a while now, the cruise industry has been forced to play it a bit more cautiously. Starting next month, however, Norwegian Cruise Lines will become the first cruise company to drop its vaccination requirement.

Starting September 3, unvaccinated travelers will be able to easily book a cruise on Norwegian. Until now, cruises were offering very limited spots for unvaccinated passengers, and spots that were available were typically reserved for children too young to be vaccinated.

Despite the new policy, local laws will take precedence and unvaccinated cruisers will be required to submit a negative test taken within 72 hours of departure. Vaccinated travelers 12 and older will not have any other Covid-related requirements.
