Frontier cuts 14 routes, see if your city is affected

Frontier Airlines has routes on the chopping block, and if this was an episode of Chopped, nobody really wins in the end. Starting this spring, the Denver-based airline will discontinue service to Rochester, New York, and remove 14 other routes from its network. 

Frontier has stated that they regularly review and revise their routes according to various factors such as demand and seasonality. For their part, Frontier shared, “We maintain our commitment to provide service to various destinations in these markets.”

What’s very unexpected is that over 50% of the route cancellations affect markets introduced less than a year ago. Passengers affected by these changes will receive a full refund for their airfare, but it may be costly to book with another airline at such short notice. 

Which Frontier routes are being cut?

• Bradley Airport (BDL) to Denver Airport (DEN) ends on April 20.
• Boston Logan Airport (BOS) to Miami Airport (MIA) ends on April 18.
• Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) to Las Vegas Airport (LAS) ends on May 10.
• LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Miami Airport (MIA) ends on May 10.
• Philadelphia Airport (PHL) to Phoenix Airport (PHX) ends on April 18.

These setbacks haven’t deterred Frontier from expanding, as indicated by its recent addition of eight new routes to Puerto Rico. This move will bring the airline’s total number of nonstop routes to the island to 19, making Frontier the leading carrier in terms of markets served in Puerto Rico.
