Last month, we learned that Flying Blue, Air France, and KLM’s loyalty program were adding free stopovers to award tickets. Now, several users on FlyerTalk report having luck booking itineraries with stopovers through the call center, as noted initially by One Mile at a Time.
While there is no official statement yet from Flying Blue on bookings, the intention is that the bookings will initially work via the call center but will eventually be available online.
These “free” stopovers allow travelers to stay on a stopover at no additional charge for up to 12 months before continuing on to their final destination.
If you’re not one with telephobia, aka phone anxiety, and don’t mind sitting through elevator music to be transferred to a rep, then it’s worth a shot! Personally, I don’t have the patience to be in any queue voluntarily, so I’ll hold out and give an update when bookings become available online.
