Sure, people have been buying weed at gas stations for ages (you didn’t hear it from me). But until now it hasn’t been as accessible as cigarettes or a Milky Way candy bar.
Starting next year, Florida residents with medical cards will be able to buy marijuana products at their local Circle K gas stations. A number of marijuana products available for sale will include flowers, prerolls, gummies, and vapes, solidifying gas stations as a true one-stop for all late-night needs.
The new offerings come after Canadian convenience store and gas station operator Circle K partnered with cannabis company Green Thumb Industries to sell marijuana at a limited number of locations in 2023. Green Thumb plans to open its RISE Express dispensaries adjacent to Circle K convenience stores at 10 of the state’s 600 locations.
Although marijuana is still illegal under federal law, Florida has legalized its sale for medical purposes. With marijuana on the ballot in more states this November, it’ll be interesting to see if this move is the indicative of an emerging national trend.
Looks like gas station sushi finally has a competitor in the game of Would You Rather? and honestly, I’d rather not play.
