On October 30th, Emirates and JetBlue will be ending their 10-year codeshare partnership.
The partnership, which offered travelers reciprocal points and redemption benefits, will be ending just as rumors are picking up that Emirates will soon be announcing a codeshare partnership with United Airlines.
Both Emirates and JetBlue have confirmed the news and notified customers that they will “no longer be able to purchase itineraries with Emirates-operated flights through JetBlue booking channels.” Customers can still accrue points through October 29th.
If you’ve already purchased an Emirates flight via Jetblue, or vice versa, don’t fret. The airlines confirmed that those flights will still be honored and itineraries will not be affected.
Though United has declined to comment, it seems that their rumored agreement is what’s driving Emirates’ split from JetBlue. Most airlines can have agreements with multiple carriers, but it seems this upcoming announcement between United and Emirates will show that it will be a close-knit partnership.
