Delta Air Lines is cutting 6 international routes this year

Delta Air Lines is cutting routes faster than a Bachelor contestant gets sent home during the final rose ceremony! Just when you think they might make it to their dream destination, Delta sends you home without a rose and says, “I’m sorry, this route is just not a good fit for us.” I can almost hear the dramatic music playing as travelers pack their bags in search of a new single non-stop route. 

After recently cutting four US routes from its summer flight schedule, Delta Air Lines is now axing 6 international routes later this winter, and New York’s JFK Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are the two hubs that will be most affected. According to reports, this decision is based on market adjustments made after gaining a clearer understanding of the expected winter travel demand.

Delta is canceling the following transatlantic routes in late October:

• Atlanta International Airport to Dusseldorf, Germany
• Atlanta to Stuttgart, Germany
• New York to Berlin, Germany
• New York to Copenhagen, Denmark
• New York to Geneva, Switzerland
• New York to Stockholm, Sweden

In addition to these routes, Delta has also decided to cancel the service connecting Beijing with both Detroit and Seattle for the entire winter season.

What if my flight for these routes is already booked? 

If you’ve already booked winter flights for any of the affected routes, there’s no need to worry. Passengers will be provided with one-stop options through Delta’s partners, Air France, and KLM. Alternatively, you can choose to receive a full refund on these flights.
