Canada’s airlines are spreading their wings further around the world with WestJet and Air Canada taking on new cities to cross off your bucket list.

Nonstop to Bangkok

Last week, Air Canada flew the first nonstop flight between North America and Bangkok in 10 years. The inaugural flight took off from Vancouver International Airport on December 1 at 11 pm local time for a 15-hour and 55-minute ride to Bangkok.

Between now and March 26, 2023, Air Canada will operate the seasonal service four times a week from Vancouver to Bangkok with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Three cabin options are available to passengers – Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy.

Next Stop: Tokyo

Not to be outdone, WestJet announced Monday that it will fly to Tokyo, Japan as its first destination in Asia with a new service to Narita International Airport – expected to begin operation on April 30, 2023, from YYC Calgary International Airport. The 3x weekly service will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The airline is also launching new Dreamliner routes between Calgary, Barcelona, and Edinburgh, as well as increasing frequencies between Calgary and Dublin, London, Paris, and Rome. The hope is that these new routes and destinations will enhance travel choices for leisure guests, business travelers, and cargo services.
