Mondays have shed their villainous image, stepping up to replace Fridays in the classic weekend getaway tradition and tossing our Sunday scaries to the side.
According to fresh new data from VacationRenter, a surprising 23% of all travel bookings are now for three-day trips. But, what’s even more interesting is the shift from the conventional Friday-to-Sunday bookings. VacationRenter has noticed a rising trend in Saturday-to-Monday bookings, resulting in a 41% surge in weekend travel plans.
VacationRenter surveyed 1,000 people about their 2023 travel plans, combining it with site booking data for current insights, and also found that 51% of respondents expressed a desire for a beach vacation. The following long-weekend destinations reigned supreme:
- Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
- Ocean City, Maryland
- Miramar Beach, Florida
- Panama City Beach, Florida
- Lake Michigan
Honestly, ever since stepping foot into the workforce, I’ve been ditching Fridays for Mondays to occasionally nab cheaper flight deals, but ultimately to sidestep the manic Monday energy and return on a Tuesday when, hopefully, most of the small fires have been put out already. Work smarter, not harder, people!
