In a year filled with flight cancellations, delays, and lost luggage, anything that can help flyers ease their travel woes is a welcome win.
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) is doing just that by building an interactive dashboard that allows travelers to easily find what they are owed by airlines.
Current DOT rules stipulate that airlines must offer customers refunds for flights that were canceled regardless of the reason. Despite these rules, policies are often unclear and difficult for travelers to decipher.
In a letter he sent to all the US airlines, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg explained that the new dashboard will let flyers find “easy to-read, comparative summary information on the services or amenities that each of the large U.S. airlines provide when the cause of a cancelation or delay was due to circumstances within the airline’s control.”
The new dashboard is set to go live on September 2nd.
