National Geographic just shared its Best of the World list, so if you don’t already have your passport number memorized, dig it out of your sock drawer and start planning next year’s adventure.
The list features destinations with community-led conservation efforts, healing and heritage journeys, ways for travelers to give back, ecotourism, sustainability, and inclusive travel. Some of these destinations include Karpathos, Greece; Trinidad & Tobago (my personal favorite, but I may be biased); Manchester, England; and the Azores region in Portugal.
Amy Alipio, senior editor for National Geographic Travel shared, “The hope is that 2023 will be not just a big return to travel but also to rediscovering wonder,” adding, “Because when you are awed by something, you treat it with respect. And that spirit is something we want to encourage with this list.”
The Best of the World categories are culture, nature, adventure, community, and family. You can check out Nat Geo’s top 25 Breathtaking Places and Experiences here.
