As I near my mid-30s (WTF), I’ve learned that things like St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, and the Fourth of July are far more significant than the hangovers they acquire. As we enter the month of May—and with summer just around the corner—Cinco de Mayo has many of us chomping at the bit to get wild. But, remember, the occasion should be marked by more than shots of tequila. Ahem, inhaling jet fuel fumes amid a free vacay to Mexico.
Topo Chico Hard Seltzer’s new contest
One of the few companies whose hard seltzer I don’t associate with hangxiety, Topo Chico
has launched a new contest that will make all travel lovers say, “Vamos!” The company is offering to send one lucky winner and a guest on a six-night culinary trip to Puebla and Mexico City. If you’re unfamiliar, Puebla is the site of the historic Battle of Puebla, in which the Mexican army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
A six-night stay could be yours…
The prize includes a three-night stay each in Puebla and Mexico City, with a range of food-focused experiences. As someone who loves Mexican food as much as she needs water after a night of celebrating Cinco de Mayo, this is certainly my trip.
Expect two private chef dinners; taco sampling at traditional taquerias in the neighborhoods of San Rafael, Anzures, La Roma, and La Condesa; a private hot air balloon tour of Teotihuacán pyramids; a Talavera pottery workshop and tour; a private tour of the Paso de Cortes mountain pass with a traditional lunch; and a private chinampas “floating garden” experience in Xochimilco and Casa Azul with a traditional lunch.
How to enter
To enter, you must be a US resident and at least 21 years old. The sweepstakes will run from May 2 to May 9, and you can enter via the website.
