This year, travel was back with a vengeance. 2022 will be remembered as the year of revenge travel and knocking off those bucket list destinations. Once Covid travel restrictions eased up, people took the first chance they had to cross off some of their bucket list destinations.
Countries like Vietnam and Australia topped lists as trending destinations but with a team full of avid travelers, our DFC crew shared a few of their bucket list travel picks for 2023:
Floating Bungalows in Thailand
I’ve got a few trips planned in 2023, but I’m most excited about returning to Southeast Asia for the first time since 2020, when I spent the first 6 months of the pandemic locked down in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (where I eventually met our writer Steven).
First priority to knock off my bucket list is staying in the floating bungalows in Thailand’s Khao Sok National Park. There are budget options aplenty here, but I’ll be spending a bit more and finally booking my long-awaited stay at Panvaree The Greenery. — Zach, Managing editor
Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina
Argentina is at the top of my list for 2023. I’m planning to visit in the fall and be based out of Buenos Aires and bop around. One thing I won’t miss while I’m there is going to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. The stunning, blue-tinged glacier sits to the far south of the country and hugs the borders of Chile and Argentina. Lucky visitors can even see a chunk of the glacier break off into the water. — Hannah, Director
Luxe cabins in Colombia
Colombia has long topped my bucket list for travel. I’m hoping I can finally make the trek down this year and experience the mesmerizing Cocora Valley. (Okay if I’m being honest I also really want to go to Colombia to see J Balvin perform in his birthplace.) I’m already eyeing these luxe cabins by The Charlee boutique hotels, which are a bit removed from the fast-paced energy of the city. — Arijana, Writer
