Summer travel is heating up and unfortunately, so are travel warnings across Europe. Everything from strikes to flash floods are affecting travel across the continent. If you have a Euro trip coming up soon, here are a few key warnings to keep in mind:
🇪🇸 Spain
Spain is currently experiencing record rainfall, which has caused both small towns and tourist hotspots to be placed under warnings by Spain’s meteorological office. Roads and metro stations have been severely affected so keep in mind that your train and flights could be delayed or canceled.
🇮🇹 Italy
If you’re headed to the land of pizza and pasta on June 4th, you might want to check your ticket details. There will be a 24-hour ground handling strike on that date. Luckily, flights scheduled to leave between 7-10 am and 6-9 pm are protected from the strike but you can check this list to confirm whether or not your flight is a go.
If your flight is affected, you should expect major delays at all airports, especially at check-in counters and baggage collection areas.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom
If you’re in the UK on June 2-3 and traveling by train, make sure you keep a watchful eye on your tickets. There is a nationwide train strike that will affect most routes, so you’ll likely experience a disruption. If you are affected by the strike, you will be able to get a refund or use it on an alternative day.
