As travel made a post-pandemic comeback, many sought out the calm of lounges to escape the chaos that overtook airports. Many credit cards and airlines began changing their lounge policies in response. Here are a few key changes expected for 2023:

American Express Centurion Lounges

The Amex Centurion lounges used to allow Platinum cardholders up to two guests per visit, for free. Now, guests will cost $50 each.

Chase Sapphire Lounges

Though it’s exciting that Chase Sapphire lounges are coming to 9 airports, they won’t just be filled with cardholders. Chase Sapphire Lounges are all part of the Priority Pass network, meaning that anyone with a Priority Pass Select membership can also enter the lounges. Basically, get ready for some overcrowding in the lounge.

Delta Sky Clubs

Because Delta Sky Clubs were hit hardest by overcrowding, the airline is making major changes. Their Sky Clubs will now prioritize lounge entry based on status. So, even those who pay the annual fee on some of their cards can still access the lounges, but might not make it in if their status doesn’t rank them high enough on the chain.

But that’s not all. Not only is Delta raising companion guest fees from $39 to $50, but they’re also taking away lounge access for elite status members when flying internationally in Main Cabin or Delta Comfort+ seats.
